Course Overview
The CPC30220 – Certificate III in Carpentry qualification provides students with the skills and knowledge required to work as a carpenter in residential and commercial building construction environments.
This qualification develops practical trade skills in setting out, constructing, assembling, installing and repairing products and structures made from timber and non-timber materials. Students will gain knowledge in workplace health and safety, construction calculations, levelling, reading plans and specifications, using carpentry tools and equipment, handling materials, flooring systems, wall frames, ceiling frames, roof trusses, pitched roofs, eaves, windows, doors, stairs, exterior cladding, lining, formwork and related construction tasks.
Graduates may work as part of a construction team or under relevant supervision within residential, commercial or formwork carpentry settings. RTO Requirements for International Students
The training package does not mandate formal entry requirements for CPC30220. However, students are expected to meet the College's admission and support requirements, including:
- Be at least 18 years of age at course commencement
- Possess adequate Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills to complete course requirements
- Demonstrate English language proficiency, such as IELTS 6.0 overall or equivalent, where applicable for international students
- Hold or be eligible to obtain a Unique Student Identifier
- Complete a pre-training review and LLN assessment to identify training and support needs
- Have access to required personal protective equipment where directed
- Have the physical capacity to participate safely in practical carpentry and construction-related activities, including manual handling, tool use and workshop-based tasks
White Card / Construction Induction: Students may be required to complete CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry before undertaking practical construction work or site-based activities, as required by relevant workplace health and safety requirements.

TO ACHIEVE THIS QUALIFICATION, STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE
To achieve this qualification, students must successfully complete 34 units of competency: 27 Core Units and 7 Elective Units. The course is delivered at Sydney Campus on a full-time blended basis over 52 weeks (40 study weeks + 12 scheduled breaks), with 15 hours per week of face-to-face classroom and workshop training and 5 hours per week of structured online or directed learning.
